The Founder: Sharon & The Lei Philosophy
Lei Custom Collars was founded by Sharon from a simple belief: the collars our dogs wear every day should be made with the same care and attention as the things we choose for ourselves.
What began as a search for something better for her own dogs gradually grew into a small workshop dedicated to handcrafted leather collars made with patience, detail, and craftsmanship.
For Sharon, presentation and care have always mattered—whether it was making sure her children were well dressed or the way her own dogs look and feel. The same attention given to the things we choose for ourselves is reflected in every collar created in the workshop.
Every collar is made specifically for your dog once your order is placed. We do not keep a stock of pre-made items. Each piece is individually handcrafted from start to finish with the same focus and care Sharon gives her own dogs — Nala, Kai, and Nyx.

Designed for Real Dogs
Dogs have always been part of life here. Growing up around dogs meant understanding early on that a collar is something a dog wears every day — it needs to be comfortable, well-built, and thoughtfully designed.
Our own dogs, Nala, Kai, and Nyx, continue to inspire many of the designs behind Lei Custom Collars.

Watching our own dogs grow from small puppies into strong adult dogs has helped guide decisions about collar width, structure, and fit. Nala, Kai, and Nyx wear our collars through every stage of life — from their first weeks home through their adult years and eventually into their senior years.
Understanding how dogs grow, move, and live with their owners helps shape every design created in the workshop.

Materials and Craftsmanship
Every collar begins with carefully selected leather and solid hardware.
We utilize a range of premium hides, including strap, harness, bridle, and latigo leather, each chosen for its structure, feel, and character.
Decorative elements such as crystals, stones, and conchos are individually set by hand, one piece at a time. Because every collar is made individually, small variations may occur a natural result of handcrafted work.
Each piece reflects the attention and care that comes from making collars one at a time rather than producing them in large batches.

Reverse D-Ring (Front D-Ring) Design
Many Lei Custom Collars feature a reverse D-ring placement, sometimes referred to as a front D-ring design. In this construction, the leash attachment ring is positioned toward the front portion of the collar rather than directly beside the buckle.
This placement keeps the leash clasp slightly forward on the collar. Some owners prefer this because it helps prevent the leash clip from resting directly against the buckle tab at the end of the collar.
Because the ring is integrated into the structure of the collar rather than positioned next to the buckle hardware, the pull from the leash is distributed across the body of the collar. This helps maintain the collar’s balance and structure while providing a strong and secure leash attachment point.
