Order Inspection

Buyers are responsible for inspecting their collar, leash, or tag upon arrival.

Please check for:

loose hardware
damaged parts
missing stones or decorative elements
stitching or leather defects

If any issue is found, please contact us within 7 days of delivery and include photos so we can review the issue and assist you.

Items that have been used, worn, altered, or damaged after delivery may not qualify for replacement.

Continued use of the collar or leash after the inspection period indicates acceptance of the product.

Sizing Responsibility

Buyers are responsible for providing accurate neck measurements when placing an order. Please carefully follow the measuring instructions provided on the website.

We are happy to provide sizing guidance based on the information provided. However, final fit depends on accurate measurement.

Because each collar is made to order, the measurement provided at the time of purchase is used to create the collar, and incorrect measurements may result in an improper fit.

Collars made according to the measurements provided are considered correctly produced and are not eligible for return or replacement due to sizing issues.

Collar Measurement Method

Lei Custom Collars measures collars from the base of the buckle to the center (middle) hole. This measurement represents the intended neck size of the collar.

Most of our collars are designed with a front D-ring, which means the D-ring is not used as the measuring reference point.

Because of this design:

collars should not be measured from the D-ring
collars should not be measured using the total length of the collar

Total collar length and D-ring placement may vary depending on the collar design.

The correct collar size is always based on the measurement from the buckle base to the center hole.

Custom Orders

Most items are custom made or made to order.

Custom items include:

collars made to a specific neck size
custom crystal or stone color combinations
custom hardware selections
personalized nameplates or tags

Due to the personalized nature of these items, custom orders cannot be returned or exchanged unless a production error occurred.

Collar Use & Safety

Our collars are designed for well-trained dogs and everyday wear.

They are not intended for:

heavy pulling
tie-outs
tethering
tactical or working dog use

Using the collar outside of its intended purpose may cause damage and is not covered under warranty.

Activity & Use Guidelines

Our collars are designed for everyday walking and normal use.

They are not recommended for activities such as:

swimming
hiking in rough terrain
off-trail running or heavy outdoor activity

Water exposure and rough terrain can damage leather and may cause decorative elements such as crystals, cabochons, or studs to loosen over time.

Sharp rocks, branches, and other rough surfaces may also scratch or pull decorative elements from the collar.

Use With Training Collars

If a dog is wearing a prong collar, chain collar, or other metal training collar, care should be taken to minimize contact between the collars.

Metal training collars rubbing against decorative collars may:

scratch the leather
damage hardware
loosen or pull out crystals or studs

Owners should be aware of this possibility when collars are worn together.

Hardware & Decorative Elements

Some designs include decorative elements such as:

crystals
cabochons
engraved conchos
specialty studs

While securely set, decorative elements can loosen over time with heavy use, rough play, or contact with hard surfaces.

Owners should periodically inspect their dog’s collar to ensure all hardware remains secure.

Hardware Tightening

Some collars include Chicago screws or screw-back hardware.

These components are secured during production, but they should be checked periodically as part of normal collar maintenance.

If a screw becomes loose, it should be tightened to prevent loss.

Leather Care & Ongoing Inspection

Our collars and leashes are made from natural leather. As with any leather product, normal wear will occur over time depending on use, environment, and activity level.

Owners should periodically inspect the collar and leash to ensure there are no signs of tearing, stretching, loose hardware, or excessive wear.

If any damage or wear is noticed, the collar or leash should be removed from use immediately until the issue is addressed.

Regular inspection helps ensure the safety and longevity of the product.

Water Exposure & Drying

Leather is a natural material and should be kept as dry as possible.

If the collar or leash becomes wet, it should be removed and allowed to dry naturally at room temperature.

Do not use heat sources such as hair dryers, heaters, or direct sunlight to speed up drying, as this may damage the leather.

Allowing leather to remain wet for extended periods may cause it to absorb moisture and develop odor from the dog’s coat.

Proper drying helps preserve the leather and maintain the longevity of the collar or leash.

Natural Leather Characteristics

Our products are made from natural leather, which means each piece may have slight variations in texture, tone, and grain.

Over time, leather develops a natural patina and may gradually become darker with use, exposure to sunlight, natural oils, and environmental conditions.

Lighter leather colors are especially likely to darken or develop a richer tone over time. This is a natural characteristic of genuine leather and is not considered a defect.

Natural Metal Patina

Hardware made from brass or copper may naturally darken or develop a patina over time. This is a normal characteristic of these metals and part of their natural aging process.

The color change does not affect the strength or functionality of the hardware.

Tag Policy

Tags and nameplates are handcrafted items and may include hand stamping or engraving.

Because tags are exposed to constant contact with other tags, surfaces, and environmental conditions, surface wear, scratches, and patina may occur over time.

Tags do not carry a long-term warranty and are guaranteed only upon arrival for workmanship or production errors.

If there is an issue with a tag upon delivery, please contact us within 7 days of delivery.

Warranty

Collars include a 1-year limited warranty covering craftsmanship defects such as:

hardware failure due to manufacturing defect
structural failure of the collar

This warranty does not cover:

normal wear and tear
chewing or scratching
damage from pulling or misuse
loss of crystals or decorative elements due to rough use
damage caused by improper use

Shipping & Production Time

Most collars are made to order.

Production time typically ranges between 4–6 weeks, depending on design complexity and current order volume.

Shipping times vary depending on location and carrier.

Returns & Exchanges

Due to the custom nature of many items, returns are generally not accepted.

However, if there is a manufacturing error, please contact us within 7 days of delivery so we can review the issue and determine the appropriate solution.
